I happened to see number of people,
around aged 50-60, whom when asked have they been satisfied with their
profession their answer was mixed. They actually wanted to join their passion
but due to several reasons they couldn’t.
It is the same dilemma of our youth
in Pakistan they are not well prepared neither for their passion nor profession
as there are sever reasons e.g. poor financial condition, lack of career
planning, these are the major factors which have disturbed their psychographic
perception regarding love what they do or do what they love.
In a country like Pakistan where
only 2% to 4% population get graduation
degrees every year, though this percentage is increasing as 124 universities
have been established in country but issue remains the same along with the same
hurdles. If proper guidelines are provided to students then their passion can
drive their profession. In Pakistan almost in all the educational institutions
career planning and student counseling departments are not built or
operational, that is why students are not aware of what do they go for, how to
dig out their passion, how to polish their skills for their profession .
In our neighboring country India
where Govt. acts as a role of bridge between job market and educational
institutions after counseling their students before they earn their
degrees. Same is the case with the
developed countries e.g. US, EU and Scadavian countries where educational
institutions put great emphasis upon their students’ career building.
According to a study, in Pakistan
60% students through out their educational carrer since early childhood do not
know for what exactly should they go for. Remaining 15% to 20% know somehow but
financial barriers and poor guidelines resist them to go along with their
passion. Remaining 10% to 15% somehow achieve what they wanted to become but in
this way they got proper guidelines and suggestions by their parents and
teachers, they themselves searched a lot, moreover, did not face any financial
hurdle during their educational career.
So, for eliminating hurdles parents
at homes should make up their children minds first then at school and college
level career and student counseling departments must be established. Last but
not the least Govt. should be playing its role and must be working as a bridge
between educational institutions and job industry to encourage students for
what they are born so that they can contribute not only for the betterment of
their state’s economy but also for the good well of their own lives and people
around them.
